Why I am reading: To make the most of my marketing

Which quote: “It doesn’t matter so much what you choose as it does that you choose.”

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

I cannot tell you how many people I have met that fail to do this.  They get so hung up on their excuses that they never make a decision.  Failing to make a choice stalls your success.

“If you choose not to decide you still have made choice.”  from the song “Freewill” by RUSH

Which quote: “The starting point of all achievement is desire.” by Napoleon Hill

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

This ties in with passion.  The latest buzz is “do what you are passionate about.”  Without passion, without desire you are not going to get the results you want.  Do you want more clients?  Then you have to have desire to work toward that goal with passion.

Which quote: “Lack of persistence is one of the major causes of failure.” by Napoleon Hill

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

I think lack of persistence stems from peoples belief that they are entitled to instant success.  I am baffled by people who do not want to work for their success.  They just want it handed to them.  This quote makes me wonder if some of the businesses that have failed if the owners quit the day before their business was to succeed.

Which quote: “There is a direct connection between the level of effort you put into marketing and the results you get out of it, even when it seems as if the results are completely unrelated to your efforts.”

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

This makes sense to me.  It reminds me of how C.J. Hayden defines marketing: telling people what you do over and over.  If I am not putting in the effort then I am not keeping the momentum or the “over and over” going.

Which quote: “How do you determine what are the best success ingredients are for you at this time?  What would make the biggest difference?  Examine the excuses you make over and over again.” by Grace Durfee http://www.balancewithgrace.com

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

Before starting the Get Clients Now program, I would make decisions because I thought I had to.  Now, I ask myself how does this decision effect my business?  Is this decision going to help grow my business today?  When faced with a decision I do not want to make, I write down the excuses I am making.  Listening to myself, I found I make a lot more excuses that hinder my growth.

* I don’t want to define the description of my services because I do not know what to say.

* I don’t want to define the description of my services because I do not have anything to offer.

* Other people do what I do and they do it better.

* Other people do what I do and they make more money at it.

* I have a market niche but they cannot afford my services.

* I am do not want to search for sources for leads because they might tell me they don’t want my services.

…and the list goes on and on…

Which quote: “Don’t sit around wondering how you might get it done.  Simply start to do it and see what happens.” by Caterina Rando, MCC www.caterinar.com

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

This quote speaks to my heart.  There is only so much theory I can take.  I recently worked with a client who was paralyzed by information.  They would sit around theorizing and pondering all the ways possible to implement a system. They wanted every reference checked and every item of data read. Decision making was prolonged for undetermined amounts of time.  I do my research. I make my decision.  Then, I take action.

Which quote: “When you progressively, step-by-step toward something that is important, you generate a continuous feeling of success and achievement.” by Brian Tracy http://www.briantracy.com

How this quote adjusted my thinking:      The past couple of quotes on my previous posts have triggered some soul searching.  I want to “get it.” I do not want to be clueless.  So I asked myself would I be more successful if I looked at my life from all angles, created a plan, and wrote it all out?

Which quote: “…Salespeople… ascribe their success to the deliberate process of thinking every aspect of their work and their lives, developing a detailed, written road map, and continually working toward where they want to go.” by Brian Tracy http://www.briantracy.com

How this quote adjusted my thinking:

I cannot imagine trying to take a bird’s eye view of my life.  It is a foreign concept to look at my life from every angle.  Plus, you want me to write it down?  I definitely have goals.  I am not the type to go through life without a plan.  If anything I am told I over plan. This quote has made me stop and think because my planning is related to short term or immediate goals.  It never occurred to me to map it all out.

Ok. This quote tweaked my defense nerve.  I instantly want to say OH COME ON! Who in their right mind does this?  I guess I am skeptical because I am not a visionary.  For goodness sake, I am still warming up to the whole law of attraction concept.

Which quote: “Start visualizing specifically what you want and put it in writing.”

How this quote adjusted my thinking:      I excel in visualizing what I want.  I fail to write it down.  I am not sure why writing down what I want is intimidating.  It is probably fear of success and an unwillingness to face the thought of failure.  You know what I want? I want it all and more. I want:

* an income so I can live a comfortable middle class lifestyle

* My children to go to college – w/o loans – tuition & books completely paid for by me

* to pay for Lauren’s college education

* to pay off my CC debt

* to pay off my HELOC

* a new laptop w/Verizon air card so I can have internet access any where

* a personal trainer

* a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes

* Michael Kors handbag

* Blackberry

* a dress from House of Nyla

* dinner at Burns

* a week at the Greenbrier

* my yard landscaped

* my backyard fenced

* my garage organized w/the professional organizing system

* new carpet in my house

* interior walls of my house professionally painted

* high end counter top

* my home office redecorated
